ECS ventured into the Software Products market when Software Development predominantly meant back office support or development of applications for specific uses such as core banking solution. With the products rolled out, ECS has stayed close to the Client, always placing the Client before commercial considerations. This has paid rich dividend and has brought ECS steady and serious clients willing to recognise our competence in handling complex and difficult systems and logic.

As a promoter of the best practices, the organisation was the first in its genre to promote path breaking initiatives in Information technology introduced by leading organisations in IT Industry. It was the first and major distributor for TATA EX – a revolutionary and friendly Accounting Software developed and introduced by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. in 1992. ECS had conducted State-wide promotion campaigns for the Software notching up excellent response.

ECS was also involved in promoting and implementing the ISO Certification Enabler Software introduced by Sundaram Fastners in 1994. The software enabled prospective applicants for ISO Certification to prepare the necessary documentation through a pack of templates.

ECS has a strong legacy in IT Hardware. Starting in 1987, when India was literally new to computers. It worked more as an advisor to all majors in business and Government such as Technopark, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, etc. The responsibility to remain in touch with cutting-edge technology and have a clear perception of costs and benefits were challenges that ECS met with confidence. ECS continued to dominate the scene as a professional and technology savvy advisor till Hardware and networking was a service in the public domain.

ECS was a Dealer / Distributor for leading international brands in computers, UPS systems, printers and scanners, telecommunication systems such as large EPABX systems, Lifestyle products and so on. It is notable that in each area of operation, ECS built a technical competence that surpassed run-of-the-mill buy-and-sell attitude.

Some of the remarkable milestones that ECS remembers with pride are as follows:

First Commercial Desktop delivered and installed in a private organization in 1987.
First to set up Arc-Net - Local Area network & install inventory application for Automobile Dealer in 1990.
Delivered, installed and set up the first Unix data server in KERAFED in 1993
First to sell and service LAPTOP computers in the State in 1993
First Computer and Laptop Service point established in 1994
First to sell Server class machine, deliver & install with 24 “nodes” in 1994
First to market branded PCs – COMPAQ – in the State.
First to front end Sale and installation of IBM AS 400 machine in Kerala
Integrated and installed the first DTP system including MG (WYSIWYG) monitor, Hiresolution professional scanner & Apple Laserwriter in VSSC in 1993.Set up the first Page setting facility for a major daily in Kottayam, integrating various hardware resources such as the “page monitor” in network mode.
Set up the first ever WAN in the State between Trivandrum and Cochin (KSIDC Offices) in 1994 using routers through dial-up connection.The first Networking Agency in Kerala authorised by Lucent Labs in 1996.
Integrated a video assisted teaching system for Dental College using hi-res advanced Targa video grabber card, voice and projection system in 1995.Recipient of various COMPAQ India recognitions for the best Technology Partner, Showroom and Sales achievement.
